STOP for one second. Are your thoughts:

1.    Focused on what has happened in the past?
2.    Focused on what is happening in your present (now)?
3.    Focused about what might happen in the future?

Because the only real power you have is by staying in the present (2).

So as you go through your day, today, notice whether the conversations you are having with others (or with yourself) are focused mostly in the past, the present or the future.

For the most part, a predisposition to focus on the future is either about what we believe will happen or what we are afraid might happen.

Rarely do we focus on what we most WANT to happen.

All of your power is in YOU and your NOW

NOW

So choose to DELIBERATELY AND INTENTIONALLY hold conversations with yourself that speak to:

1. What you are truly wanting to create in your future
2. The positive aspects of your present
3. Moments in your past that have brought you upliftment

Further notice how your predominant thoughts are focused in essentially one of only two ways:

•    Thoughts that feel good
•    Thoughts that do not feel good

Ask yourself: “Is my dominant thought empowering or disempowering?”

With this new “understanding”, how can you best influence events and circumstances around you today?

The GROW Model

Ever popular among coaches, the GROW Model, is a simple structure to help clients get from point A to point B.

The G stands for Gap.

Here you identify your ideal outcome (the more specific the better).

The trick here is that it's more than just visualisation. The more you can "experience" your ideal through ALL your senses the better.

R stands for your current Reality

The more pain you can attach to your current situation, the greater your WHY (eg "discomfort").

O is for Options

skills

Some coaches feel YOU have ALL the answers and just need to be pushed with the right questions.

To me, this just traps you within the boundaries of your current awareness and does nothing to expand your thinking (growth).

Questions like "what else", "think, think" can feel extremely frustrating to a recipient desperate for change.

I believe a good Coach should both support AND challenge your way of seeing things.

Finally W is for Way Forward.

What 2-3 options should you pursue?

Here I like to strive for an immediate gain AND a longer-term objective.

As you can imagine, there is great power in the process behind GROW itself, just by asking yourself the right questions.

If not - simply ask a good Coach!

"The difference between great people and everyone else is that great people create their lives actively, while everyone else is created by their lives, passively waiting to see where life takes them next. The difference between the two is the difference between living fully and just existing."
